We study apparently differentiated—but ultimately connected—fields: language learning and reward on the one hand, and music, reward and memory on the other. Our research relies on one main idea: capitalize on music to shape cognition, and capitalize on cognition to shape music.
Capitalize on Music to shape Cognition, capitalize on Cognition to shape Music.
Music and Audio Research Lab
We are integrated within the Music and Auditory Research Laboratory (MARL), part of the Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions, which brings together scholars from music theory, technology and composition, computer and information science, interactive media and media studies, to explore the intersection between music, computation and science.
Department of Psychology
Within this department, we are part of the Program in Cognition & Perception spanning multiple subareas of psychology, such as perception, attention, memory, categorization, language, emotion, decision-making, development, motor control, and cognitive neuroscience.
